This application for self-build homes followed the first phase of the development, which delivered conventional housebuilder dwellings. A plot passport was developed alongside the masterplan to provide a clear framework for each self-build plot, balancing flexibility for individual designs with the need to establish a coherent overall character.

Each plot was defined by a maximum developable area and a series of boundary offsets, responding to constraints including tree protection, landscape and neighbour amenity. First-hand experience of self-build informed the approach, helping to ensure that the plot passports provided practical and usable guidance for future designers and builders, from initial design through to construction. @ UDB
